| Youth Ministry - Affirming Teens - Part 2 |
4. Grab Bag. Put the names of your youth group in a bag or box. Let each teen draw one name out of the box and write that person a letter of encouragement. This not only allows teens to affirm one another, but meet one another. Some teens will draw the name of someone they don’t know very well. Their note may be general encouragement, but it will give them the chance to talk with someone they normally don’t.
5. Clothesline Kindness. Hang a clothesline in your room with wooden clothespins attached. Write a teen’s name on each clothespin until every teen has one. Provide small sheets of paper for teens to write notes to other teens in the group. Encourage them to write notes at home, or come early to class to do so, then use the clothespin to attach the mail. This gives new meaning to the term “pin” pal.
6. Circle of Love. Have your teens sit in a circle on the floor for this activity. Begin by working clockwise around the circle with each person completing this phrase “I love and appreciate you because...” to the person to their left.
Go around the circle again, only this time use a ball of twine. Let the first member hold the end and gently toss it to another group member. The person who tossed the ball gets to affirm the one who caught it. Reverse the process and have the catcher affirm the tosser. Do this until everyone has received encouragement and the ball returns to the one who began.
